About Us
Our Inspiration
"We made something out of nothing"

Wisconsin farm kids started something that transformed from family jam sessions into a rock and roll band that would label them as local legends.
Liv’s father, Dennis Dietzel, and 2 of his brothers, Kenny and Mark Dietzel, played in a local 70’s and 80’s rock and roll cover band. What started as something that required quite a “tussle” to get off the ground, through hard work and dedication, transformed into one of the most famous local bands Southwest Wisconsin would ever see. Tussle was born and it provided fun, laughter and memories for the local communities that would continue far beyond the band years.
Dennis was always Liv’s biggest fan. He believed in her when no one else did. She got into the sport because of him, and was inspired to chase her potential because he showed her what it meant to work hard, never give up, and keep proving people wrong. Liv felt there was no better name for her endurance coaching company than Tussle, in honor of the band and her father.

Liv is a mechanical engineer turned professional triathlete, coach and race director. Deemed “not worth investing in” by her high school coach, she didn’t pursue collegiate running. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in mechanical engineering, she moved back home to work at John Deere and got her start in triathlon because she used biking as a way to spend time with her father who was battling brain cancer at the time. In 2019 she did her first Ironman as a fundraiser for brain cancer research. Since losing her father in 2020, she’s dedicated her racing and training to the cause through her Mind Over Matter fundraisers. This new “why” drove her to quick and significant improvement and she began racing as a professional triathlete in 2023.
Liv has completed 25 full distance races including 7 extreme triathlon races with 2 Norseman World Championship qualifications, resulting in 2 Norseman black t-shirt finishes. She was the female champion at 2021 Ironman 70.3 Michigan, placed 2nd at 2023 Fodaxman and was the top American female finisher at 2023 Norseman XTRI World Championships. In 2024, she had a breakout extreme triathlon season, being the female champion at Greek Hero XTRI, Fodaxman XTRI and Serranoman Extremet Triathlon. She also broke the course record by 38 min at 2024 Greek Hero. She has a current PTO ranking of 31st nationally (9th on the run nationally) and is currently ranked 61st globally in the Ironman Pro Series.
Liv has been coaching triathletes since 2017. She’s a USAT Level I Certified Coach, Ironman Certified Coach, USAT Certified Race Director, and a NASM Certified Personal Trainer. She’s coached athletes of all levels, including two Ironman World Championship qualifiers. She’s also self-coached herself to 3 extreme triathlon victories and several strong professional field 140.6 and 70.3 finishes.
In 2023, Liv founded the annual Mind Over Matter Triathlon as a fundraiser for brain cancer research. The same year, she also founded a USAT-certified high school and youth triathlon team called the Tri-State Terrapins. She also coaches distance running at a local high school.
In 2024, Liv became a self-coached professional athlete and had a breakout season with several victories and PRs in several triathlon and running distances.
